How to Get Your Apartment Found on ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude

More renters are starting with questions like “What are the best apartments near downtown?” or “Which communities should I tour first?” If you want your property to appear in answers from ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude, the goal is simple:

Make sure the property is public, crawlable, understandable, and consistently described across the web.

LLMs do not usually learn about your apartment because you manually submit it to them. They find out your property exists the same way search engines do: by crawling public pages, following links, reading structured signals, and pulling from search results and web sources. OpenAI says public websites can appear in ChatGPT search if OAI-SearchBot is allowed. Google says its systems find pages automatically through web crawling, and sitemaps help search engines discover URLs more intelligently.

Start with the prerequisites

Before you worry about optimization, make sure the property can actually be found.

Your community should have:

  • a live public website or property page
  • crawlable pages that are not blocked in robots.txt
  • no accidental noindex tags on key property pages
  • internal links that make important pages reachable
  • a sitemap
  • consistent business/location details across the web

These are not optional. Google notes that properly linked pages are usually discoverable, while sitemaps help with crawling, especially for newer or more complex sites. OpenAI also notes that if OAI-SearchBot is blocked, ChatGPT may still know a URL from third-party sources but may only show the link and title rather than using the page content in summaries.

How LLMs know what your property is

Once your site is discoverable, the next job is clarity.

LLMs and search systems need to quickly understand:

  • the property name
  • city, submarket, and neighborhood
  • unit types and pricing guidance
  • amenities
  • pet and parking policies
  • office hours
  • contact and tour options

Google’s SEO guidance is straightforward: help search engines understand your content so users can find your site and decide whether to visit it. Structured data can also help. Google supports LocalBusiness and Organization markup to communicate business details such as address, hours, contact information, and related profiles.

Must-dos to stay visible

After the prerequisites are in place, keep the property clean and current.

  • keep property facts in plain text, not buried only in images or PDFs
  • maintain accurate floor plans, pricing ranges, and amenities
  • keep Google Business Profile, ILS listings, and your website aligned
  • add LocalBusiness or Organization schema where appropriate
  • keep your sitemap current
  • fix broken links, stale specials, and outdated photos
  • make pages easy to read and navigate
  • use accessible labels and structure on forms and interactive elements

That last point matters more than many teams realize. OpenAI says improving website accessibility helps ChatGPT’s agent understand a site better, including page structure and interactive elements through ARIA labels and roles.

Final thought

If you want your apartment community to show up in LLM-driven search, do not think in terms of tricks.

Think in terms of digital visibility fundamentals.

First, make sure the property exists in a crawlable, indexable, public form. Then make sure every important fact is clear, current, and consistent. The easier your community is for the web to understand, the better chance ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude have of surfacing it when renters ask.
